Nato Barnard

Well into his eighties now, Nato Barnard started writing in Afrikaans in the 1950s, typing his first manuscript on a Remington typewriter. After his first two books, his exploits as a writer saw a prolonged pause as his career first took him from office work to the Railways and then saw him establishing Namibia’s first nail factory at Okahandja. A move to Windhoek was followed by a stint as a cattle farmer in the Otjiwarongo district. He then retired first to Henties Bay and then Swakopmund and took up writing again in 2012.
