Johan Jacob Beyers was born in Krugersdorp, South Africa, in 1953. After completing his training as a meteorologist at the then Pretoria Technikon, he moved first to Keetmanshoop in 1977 and later to Windhoek. He is married and is the father of a son and two daughters as well as the grandfather of three boys. He went on early retirement in 2010 and except for writing, he is also a passionate photographer and spends time on small woodworking projects as well. The Kupferberg Mining Company is his first novel, a book that was born as a result of his travels throughout Namibia for the Namibian Meteorological Service.
